ISLANDIC CHAIN TO THE "OPPOSITE CONTINET"
These recently discovered seamounts reach westward from the mid-Atlantic Ridge toward North America, running from Kelvin to Bear Seamount (very near the North American continental shelf). "Mountains in the Sea Expedition" (2003) plotted the Manning, Kelvin, and Bear seamounts using the R/V Atlantis' Seabeam 2112 12KHz swath bathymetric sonar system. As its name implies, the multibeam sonar emits sound pulses which bounce off the ocean floor and back giving precise measurements of sea depths. Such a chain confirms Plato's allegation that islands formed a passage to the Americas.
